The light miner from Peter Ulbricht is, along with the light angel, one of the most important figures in the Ore Mountains. Dressed in traditional miner’s clothing, he presents himself with a jacket whose golden buttons stand out and give a feeling of nobility. The miners’ coat of arms is proudly displayed on his belt bag, a symbol of their guild and tradition. His face radiates expressiveness, characterized by a prominent nose, brown eyes and an impressive black mustache that characterizes his face. A cap sits enthroned on his head, artfully decorated and a testament to master craftsmanship.

In his hands he carries candle holders, which he presents with pride and consideration. His demeanor is one of dignity and strength as he carries out his duty with quiet determination. The miner embodies not only the hard work underground, but also the miners’ faith and hope for a good living and protection from the dangers of the mines.

During the festive times of the year, especially at Christmas time, the miner shines in the glow of candles, a symbol of enlightenment and solidarity. The sight of it leaves people in awe and reminds them of the values and traditions of their home region. Through his presence, the connection with the history and culture of the Erzgebirge becomes alive and tangible.

The miner is therefore not just a figure made of wood and paint, but a living testimony to the deep connection people have with their surroundings and the values that they preserve and pass on across generations.
