This Annaberg candle arch is another beautiful arch from the Klaus Kolbe manufactory, lovingly handcrafted with an eye for detail.

The Annaberg candle arch combines the history of the Ore Mountains with the festive Christmas season. Its focal point is St. Anne’s Church, the landmark of Annaberg-Buchholz, surrounded by a snowy winter landscape. The “tunnel entrance” symbolizes the mining tradition and recalls the harsh working conditions of the miners. Two miners at the entrance, with miner’s lamps and tools, embody the courage and hard work of the people underground.

The construction of the candle arch resembles a tunnel entrance. Glittering decorations along the arches symbolize the rock, while electric candles spread a warm glow. On various levels of the candle arch, detailed figures tell of life and work in the Ore Mountains. On the lower level, a shepherd, a farmer’s wife, and a toy maker depict the development of agriculture and woodcraft.

The upper level is enlivened by miners in traditional costume. With instruments and miners’ lamps, they represent community and pride in their traditions. In addition to the tunnel entrance, there are other scenes, such as a stove builder and Santa Claus, symbolizing craftsmanship and festivity.

The “Annaberg” candle arch is not only a decorative addition, but also a testament to cultural identity. It combines tradition with contemplation and invites visitors to discover the roots and transformations of the Ore Mountains.
