Lovingly and detailedly handcrafted, this Mettenschicht candle arch in the Reiche Hope ore mine in Seiffen is a real eye-catcher.

Visually, the candle arch cleverly takes the viewer into the fascinating world of miners. Above ground, an impressive miners’ band, dressed in uniform, presents itself on the snow-covered Seiffen village square. The background is dominated by the radiant Seiffenerkirche, which rises picturesquely amid snow-covered houses and landscape. Each individual house is electrically lit from the inside, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Underground, the candle arch reveals an impressive picture of the hard work of the miners. They are seen mining ore and transporting it out of the mine. The cold underground is so intense that the miners have to keep warming themselves using their lanterns. The underground part of the arch is covered in sparkling ore, which enhances the scenery with its shine and radiance.

The miners’ lanterns, also lit electrically, emit a warm light and thus impressively set the scene. The entire arch becomes a real eye-catcher as it impresses with glitter and radiance. The variety of details makes it a fascinating work of art with always something new to discover. In its entirety, this candle arch is not only a visual feast, but also a homage to the miners and their traditional work.

The candle arch, as the 4th limited edition of the Mettenschicht arches from the Klaus Kolbe manufacturer, occupies a permanent place in the original range. The first two limited editions were dedicated to the Seiffen “Deep Holy Trinity Tunnel” from the Agricola period and the “Blessing of God” vein. The 3rd and current variant focuses on the final layer of the year, the Metten layer, in the “Reiche Hope” ore mine in Seiffen.

In this unique depiction, miners pray and give thanks for the wealth of tin while hoping for further discoveries. The scene is permeated by glowing frog lamps, giving the arch a contemplative atmosphere. Above ground, the Christmassy and romantic wintery Seiffen presents itself, where miners make music – a successful composition that harmoniously combines the past and present.
