Handcrafted with great attention to detail, this “Erzgebirge Traditions” table lantern is produced by the Kuhnert woodturning workshop.
The table lantern is an exquisite decorative piece. Adorned with intricate appliqués made from fine wood veneers, it creates a cozy yet festive atmosphere. The soft glow of a tea light shines through the delicate woodwork, casting a warm ambiance.
The included glass insert holds standard tea lights. To ensure safe use, the tea light should not be taller than the glass itself.
The wire handle is purely decorative; therefore, the lantern is not intended to be carried or hung while in use. It should always be placed on a stable surface. The door opens to allow for the easy insertion or replacement of the tea light glass.
The lantern features two pairs of motifs across its four sides, which look particularly beautiful when illuminated by candlelight in the dark.
One pair of motifs depicts a young woman in traditional Erzgebirge attire. She sits in a rocking chair, engaged in needlework. A delicate chandelier hangs above her, while a small dog sits at her feet. The opposing motif shows an older woodcarver wearing a hat. He, too, sits in a rocking chair, working intently on a wooden figure. A small rocking horse—a symbol of Erzgebirge woodcarving—lies at his feet.
Together, these motifs tell the story of the region’s rich tradition of craftsmanship. They evoke the cozy image of a hardworking Erzgebirge household, making this lantern a truly special piece.
The “Erzgebirge Traditions” table lantern makes for an atmospheric gift. It is ideal for the Advent and Christmas seasons and is sure to delight anyone who appreciates the traditions of the Erzgebirge region.
Note: Wood is a natural product, and no two pieces are alike. Consequently, the grain of the lantern may vary from item to item; this does not constitute grounds for a complaint.
