This impressive nutcracker impresses with its impressive size of 49 cm and its impressive color scheme. It is dressed in a bright red jacket made of velvet-like fabric, which is decorated with elaborate gold decorations. The gold embroidery stands out magnificently against the deep red and gives the figure a noble appearance. The nutcracker also wears white trousers and shiny black boots, which perfectly round off his traditional look.

They became particularly popular in the 19th century, when they became a sought-after Christmas gift. This is closely linked to the tradition of Christmas pyramids and markets in the Ore Mountains, where handmade nutcrackers were sold.
However, the worldwide breakthrough of the nutcracker tradition came with the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1892. The ballet, based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, tells the story of a girl who receives a nutcracker as a gift at Christmas, which comes to life at night and begins a magical adventure. Since then, the nutcracker has been associated not only with Christmas, but also with fairy tales and fantasy.
Today, nutcrackers are popular collector’s items and decorations, especially during the Christmas season. They represent tradition, craftsmanship and the spirit of the holidays, while also embodying a part of German history and culture.
